about

"Chelsea’s sound reflects the circumstances in which it was created, written after binge-watching Kate Bush videos following a long night at Berghain in Berlin. The near-operatic melody dances on top of a theatrical chorus of voices. The sounds are sparse but modern: a ricocheting handclap here, a growling bassline there. It locks you in."

lyrics

VERSE 1

I've never heard that before
No bosslady begging for her reward
No
I've never seen that before
The highlife digging for scraps like ore
Cause

No, they never work
Lay and on her stern

No, they never work
Spared the need to yearn

(You're kidding, oh)

I've never seen that before,
No suh, no problems for lads and lords, no
I never see them endure
We wade by the water
They shade by shores
You better

CHORUS

Watch out
Watch out
Take a minute
To find out

Watch out
Watch out
You’ll end up in it
Or without

Watch out
Watch out
And take a minute
To find out

VERSE 2

I've never heard that before
No fine, fair lady go long ignored
I've never seen that before
Her wide, white fingers turned black with poor
No
I’ve never seen that before
No bosslady begging for her reward
Cause

No, she never works
Lay and on her stern
No she never works
Spared the need to yearn

BRIDGE

I laid the blonde by the wayside
Made her go down the pay slide
Went hard on green eyes
'The while, I shut mine

END CHORUS

I’ve never seen
Never, never seen that before
No, I’ve never seen it

I’ve never seen that before
But, have you even seen me look at her?

about

Bonjay Toronto, Ontario

Dancehall-bred, but orchestrated like old soul.

Resplendent with emotive vocals inspired as much by Feist as by Yolanda Adams.

There’s a rawness to Bonjay’s sound: to the feelings, to the voice, to the sounds clashing.

It sounds like something new.
